Russell Clark (1905-66) Russell Clark was one of New Zealand's most interesting, versatile and prolific artists - known as a painter, illustrator, sculptor and university lecturer. He was born in Christchurch. He attended Canterbury College School of Art from 1922 to 1928. He was an Official War Artist for New Zealand during the Second World War. Clark then became nationally well known as an illustrator through publications such as Sketcher, The Digest, and the New Zealand Listener.
