Paul Johns (1951-)
Paul Johns studied film-making and sculpture at the School of Fine Arts, University of Canterbury in 1974.
Johns is one of a small number of gay artists who were early activists in New Zealand supporting and advocating for the recognition of the LGBTQ+ community in the arts.
Johns' work explores portraiture and photography as a means to capture memory and personhood.
