Sabhan Adam (1973 –)
Syrian artist Sabhan Adam work has been described as being part of the contemporary
international plastic art movement. His paintings are inspired by the deep psychological mysteries of the human condition.
“The figures I paint have so many things in common with me – they look like me, they have the same head and the same Asian eyes as me. I draw myself with everything that exists inside – the sadness, the misery, the shocking things I have faced, the isolation, and the feeling of not belonging to this world.” Sabhan Adam
He is self-taught. His technique of mixed media on canvas is fluid and expressive and gives a degree of inherent honesty to his painting .this technique has been a major influence on contemporary Arabic art.
He has exhibited international including at the Venice Biennale. The British Museum
collection includes some of his painting.
