“My inspiration comes, mostly, from the connection between the natural world and the human element. In my still life paintings, the blend of past and present; man-made items combined with the creatures that inhabit the landscape echo that delicate balance. In all my work, I strive to capture the emotion, atmosphere and beauty of my subject matter.” Heather Denison
Heather Denison was born in rural Zimbabwe and immigrated to New Zealand in 2003. She now lives with her family in Waipukurau, Central Hawkes Bay .
Denison first trained and worked as a graphic artist before becoming a professional painter. In Zimbabwe her paintings focused on representing the local wild life, but this has changed in New Zealand due to her interest in depicting Aotearoa's native birds with local fauna.
Her paintings are highly sought after and held in private collections in New Zealand and overseas.
