Gordon Crook (1921-2011)
UK born artist, Gordon Crook, studied art at St Martin's School, London. He also studied at the Central School of Art, also in London, known for its works in textile design. For twenty-two years he lived in London, teaching at the Central School and the Royal College of Art, and working as a freelance designer. He moved to New Zealand in the early 1970s.
He is known for his works in a wide range of media, working outside many of the boundaries between art, craft and design. He created his own distinctive world of symbols, images and style using abstract and figurative elements.
