Tom Esplin (1915 - 2005) was a Scottish born New Zealander landscape painter. His thick impasto works, usually featured rustic buildings by the water, small boats, and human figures. Esplin uses a palette knife to apply paint.
Born in Motherwell, United Kingdom in 1915, he won an Andrew Grant Scholarship to study at the Edinburgh College of Art in 1934. In 1954, Esplin moved to New Zealand with his wife, the painter Edith Mees.
