The story of these beautiful works began in 2015 when a most extraordinary fundraising project was conceived. With no funds, permits, website or strategy, celebrated artist Max Gimblett threw his support into the creation and installation of thousands of these quatrefoils. Produced in only six weeks they then adorned the exterior of St David's Church in Auckland for three long months.
Each of these works tells its own story, with varying hues, colour and imperfections, all of which reflect the human presence of soldiers and nurses who served in the Great War.
