Bing Dawe (1952-) Artist, Bing Dawe, was born in South Canterbury alongside the Waihao and Waitaki Rivers. His sculptures and works on paper explore fragile connections between humanity and the natural world. Dawe's woodcuts often read like schematics, with dense diagrammatic details. This work explores a poem by Rob Jackaman. Dawe was inspired by a series of Rob Jackaman's works where he spoke of a palimpsest, which involves a layering or juxtaposition of text on a surface on which you write or draw again. They collaborated on a publication Palimpsest : an historical sequence of poems, by Rob Jackaman with accompanying drawings by Bing Dawe.
