Ōtautahi, Christchurch based Hamish Allan initially worked as a physiotherapist, having completed two health-related degrees before embarking on his artistic career in 1999. His initial focus was on sculpture, before a shift to drawing and painting.
His creative style is characterised by clean, precise, stylised, representation of New Zealand landscapes and incorporates distinctive objects and symbolism.
