Otis Frizzell (1971 -)
Despite not attending formal art school, multidisciplinary artist, graffiti pioneer and illustrator Otis Frizzell was immersed in a creative household. His father is renowned pop artist Dick Frizzell.
Frizzell began his artistic journey on the streets, building more than 20 years of public graffiti experience and establishing himself as one of Aotearoa’s most visible graffiti artists.
In 1998 he launched his first solo art exhibition Opto 2000 in collaboration with pop‐culture impresario Mike Weston. From there they co‑formed the collaborative art brand “Weston Frizzell” with Weston, producing limited edition prints and hand‐painted artworks.
His works include public outdoor murals, commercial illustration, street art, packaging design, and more.
Frizzell’s art blends graffiti aesthetics, pop culture icons, humour, bold colour and layered graphic references.
