Jeannie Mills Pwerle
1965 –
Jeannie Mills Pwerle was born in the Atnwengerrp region of the Norther Territory. Her mother was acclaimed artist Dolly Mills Petyarre and her uncle Greeny Purvis Petyarre.
Central to Jeannie’s work are Anaty, Bush Yam, a staple in the diet of indigenous people from the Central Desert region. Her works have been termed ‘Bush Yam Dreamings’. The paintings have bold and thick brush work in vibrant colours. The placement and layering of the coloured brush strokes creates a sense of movement and tension to each work.
Her work is held in major Australian collections.
