Freeman White
1979 –
Freeman White is a graduate of Elam School of Fine Arts, Auckland.
His art practice focused on portraiture for many years and in 2006 he won the ADAM Portraiture National Portrait Award which led to international recognition. He was invited to exhibit at the Real International Symposium for Figurative Art in Germany, in both 2007 and 2009. White was also invited to do a residency at The Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
His current work is large scale landscape painting. The canvases are textured and layered with paint which evoke the majesty of the New Zealand landscape.
White lives in Napier. His work is held in many major collections.
