John Weeks OBE (1886 - 1965)
Born in Devon, England, Weeks arrived in New Zealand with his parents in 1882 and studied at the Elam School of Fine Art.
He served in France as part of the New Zealand Medical Corps and later studied further in Edinburgh and Paris.
Highly regarded as a both a modern painter and influential teacher, after extensive travel 1930, Weeks joined the staff at Elam where he taught until 1954.
