William Wainwright (1855 -1931) was born in Birmingham, England in 1955. He trained at the Birmingham School of Art under Edward Taylor. He spent his life in Birmingham and was noted for his involvement in founding the Birmingham Art Circle and for 50 years he was associated with the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA) including serving for a time as its President.
His most notable works are his portraits in both oil and watercolour.
