Nigel Buxton
Nigel Buxton was born in the U.K in 1951. He studied at the Byam Shaw School of Art in London. He married New Zealand artist Sally Hope in London returning to New Zealand with her in 1981. He has lived in Christchurch since and been an active member of the art scene including a period as director at COCA.
Buxton has exhibited regularly in group and solo shows with both paintings and drawings. In 1995 he won the Cranleigh Barton Drawing Award.
Buxton’s recent works are inspired by the sumptuous drapery of the 17th and 18th century renaissance painting.
