Walter Wright. 1866-1933
Walter Wright was born in Nottingham in 1866. He emigrated to NZ with his mother and elder brother Frank in 1877, settling in Auckland. In 1889 he began to exhibit painting in both watercolours and oils, and in conjunction with his brother established "Wright's Studio" in the Victoria Arcade, where they taught students painting. He went back to England to study with Stanhope Forbes in Cornwall. Notably he collaborated with his brother on the book "New Zealand: Painted by F. & W. Wright..." (1908).
